NUTRITION AND HEALTH

When it comes to nutrition, the food we choose to eat has a huge impact on our overall health and especially on the risk of developing chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancers.

Here are 5 key changes that you can make to get yourself on the right track to a healthier you:

·       Watch your portion sizes
·       Add a variety of fruit and vegetables to each meals and snacks
·       Focus on healthy fats as opposed to saturated and trans fats
·       Limit your sodium intake
·       Limit refined sugars

Food for thought - 56.2% of Canadians (age 12+) consume fewer than five servings of vegetables and fruit per day.
