HEALTH TIP #22:
Sedentary Behaviours
Sedentary Behaviours
New studies show that being less sedentary at home and at work can lead to health benefits such as decreased risk of developing certain chronic diseases.
Most researches define sedentary behavior as sitting for long periods of time such as when sitting at the computer, watching television or driving, etc. Many office jobs are conducive to low levels of activity. There are many simple things you can do at your work in order to increase your level of physical activity.
Here are some tricks to stay active at the office:
- If you don't have to be sitting down, stand up (while talking on the phone, while meeting with a coworker or while reading a report).
- Instead of sending interoffice emails, get up and walk to the other person's desk and talk with them directly.
- Position your garbage bin far away from your desk so you will need to get up and walk to it to throw out your garbage.
Take care of your health, you're worth it!
