Fruits and vegetables
Eating a diet rich in vegetables, fruit and
whole grains is a great way to keep your heart healthy, as these foods are a
good source of vitamins, minerals and fiber. These nutrients contained in these
foods will play an important role in maintaining a healthy heart.
For vegetables and fruit, aim for 7-10 servings
per day (1 serving = medium size apple, orange, peach or pear, small banana, ½
cup mixed fruit, ½ cup raw or cooked vegetables or 1 cup leafy greens). Try to
eat one dark green vegetable and one orange vegetable every day as they are
very rich in minerals and vitamins.
